FastX is a simple and affordable X Windows terminal emulator. FastX allows you to work at top speed, whether you are connecting over the local area network or from a VPN. Even the most graphics-rich design engineering applications like Cadence Virtuoso display as if you are working on the local console.
With FastX, no client installation is needed. Unlike any other X Windows emulator, FastX lets you connect to your remote Linux desktop and applications through the browser (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc). Use your laptop, tablet, smartphone or any other device with a browser.
Linux in the Browser
FastX comes with a client for Windows and Macintosh. Unlike any other remote connection solution, you can connect directly to your remote Linux sessions through browsers including Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Safari. IT managers no longer need to install and maintain client software, and end users can connect to their remote sessions from any device with a browser.
Competitive Evaluation

Linux Display
FastX operates on a highly streamlined protocol resulting in unprecedented performance over both LAN and WAN connections. You can work on demanding graphic applications (EDA tools) while connecting over VPN or to servers thousands of miles away.
Features:
Persistency
FastX connections are persistent, so you can reconnect to FastX sessions after a network failure or an unplanned reboot of the Windows workstation. Users can also suspend their sessions, disconnect their PC and resume the session at a later time or from another PC.
Desktop or Single Application
FastX displays both remote Linux/Unix desktops and individual applications in rootless windows (using the Windows or Mac app), or in single window mode (using the application or a browser).
Secure Session Sharing
Session sharing can be a real security concern. FastX offers the most secure session sharing of any X Windows solution. See white paper on session sharing hazards with VNC, Exceed OnDemand and NX.
Secure Connections
FastX transmits data with SSL using the browser and SSH when using the FastX client. Multi-layer authentication is supported with the browser, including the use of random access code generators like Google Token.
Ease of Use
Remote X has never been easier to use! Type the name of the Linux server in the browser URL field. The FastX user interface will be brought up and you will be able to start new sessions or resume a suspended session already running on the remote host.
